Opening Times
The library is open for student use every day before school from 8.30am to 8.45am. Parents are also welcome to accompany their children at this time. We are very fortunate to have a Morning Reading program before school from 8.00-8.30. Students are invited to attend these sessions to work with a teacher aide.
Students are also able to access the library during first and second breaks. Generally, there are quiet activities run during the breaks.
Please note the library open/closed sign in case of any time changes.
Borrowing
Books may be borrowed each week. The number of books borrowed depends on the year level of your child. All children must have a library bag. Lost or damaged books must be replaced and the cost covered by the parent or caregiver before any new books may be borrowed.
We celebrate National Simultaneous Storytime, Book Week, compete against local schools in the Reader's Cup and host a Book Fair throughout the year.
Senior Readers
There is a Senior Reader note that must be completed to access some of the titles we have in the library due to more mature content or themes. If parents/guardians choose to complete this form, we ask that they talk to students about the books being read.
Accelerated Reader
The purpose of Accelerated Reader is to assist students to find books in our School Library that are similar to their current reading ability so that they can have increased confidence as they transition from Home Readers to the main library collection.
The students answer a series of questions to gauge their current reading level so that Accelerated Reader can more accurately suggest the current level the student is reading. This is done on an iPad with the student's username.
When students have completed a book, they use Accelerated Reader to do a Quiz about what they have read so that further suggestions can be made.
